Patient Information

On dialling the emergency dentist in Cardiff you will be answered by a member of our friendly team who will take your details and inform the emergency dentist who is on call that day. You will be provided with directions and parking information along with an appointment slot.

Here at The Dental Surgery, Cardiff, we accept patients for treatment who have insurance cover from all the major insurance providers including AXA, AVIVA and BUPA. If you have dental insurance, you will be provided with the necessary documentation after the treatment to enable you to make your claim.

Our emergency dentists will carry out an assessment and recommend the most appropriate type of treatment to be administered to solve your dental problem. Emergency treatment may need to be followed up by subsequent appointments during normal surgery hours.

Emergency appointments are not full oral health assessments and only the complaint issue will be dealt with. If further treatment is required, the dentist will discuss this along with potential fees.

A dental emergency is any dental issue that is causing you severe pain or badly interrupting the enjoyment of your day. Examples of problems that might require you to visit an emergency dental practice include:

  • Toothache
  • Facial/gum swelling
  • Gum infection
  • Lost filling
  • Loose tooth
  • Prolonged bleeding after an extraction
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Lost or broken crowns
  • Broken veneers or bridges
  • Broken braces or aligners
  • Broken dentures (may not be able to be fixed on the day as they may need to be sent to a dental laboratory for repair)
  • Wisdom tooth pain
  • Injury from trauma to head or face

Dental emergencies are something we all want to avoid and the best way to do this is with regular appointments, including X-Rays. Why not join one of our membership plans and guarantee regular dental check-ups.

For an emergency visit, please be ready to pay a £40 deposit over the phone which secures the appointment for you. A receipt for this will be provided at your appointment.

The full cost of your emergency appointment depends on the treatment type and time involved.

Students save 20% of total price (on presentation of Student Card).

Please note that if patients are late or fail to attend emergency appointments, the deposit will be non-refundable and a further deposit required to rebook the appointment.
